* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Instructions:Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Annual Hurricane Evacuation Exercise Tomorrow

No roads will be closed; however, motorists should expect an increased police and work crew presence on key shore routes

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials, in partnership with the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA), the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA), and the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) announced today that it will be conducting its annual emergency evacuation exercise on Thursday, August 6 to practice and refine response activities in the event of a major hurricane.

Traffic Advisory-Overnight Road Closure

Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Sicklerville Road northbound will be closed between Malaga Road and Erial Road due to ongoing roadway construction.

A signed detour will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone. Please allow extra travel time, follow all posted detour signs, and use caution when traveling through the area.

Philadelphia Police Report the Following Incidents

8th District – Found Human Remains

At approximately 7:00 p.m., police responded to the wooded area near the 12000 block of Knights Road, where skeletal remains of an adult were discovered. At this time, the race and gender of the deceased have not been determined. The investigation remains ongoing in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office, which will work to determine the identity of the decedent, the cause of death, and the manner of death.

35th District – Stabbing

At approximately 6:33 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Wagner Avenue for a report of a stabbing. An adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds was transported by police to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was placed in stable condition. The scene has been secured. and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing with Northwest Detectives.

  And so I’d like you to come with me back to the summer of 1970, ‘way up north of Fairbanks, Alaska, to what was once the thriving gold mining village of Chicken, Alaska. I was on my way, hitchhiking with a canoe, to paddle down a 500-mile stretch of the Yukon River and to see the cabin where Jack London spent the winter once upon a time.

  Just as an aside here, hitchhiking with a canoe, or with a sled and 10 dogs, would make a lengthy how-to book all by themselves. It doesn’t sound easy, does it? It isn’t.
